We are delighted to announce the appointment of André Hoffmann as the new Board Chair of GIST Impact. A visionary leader and advocate of impact measurement, who has long-championed redefining success in business – moving beyond profit maximisation to align business practices with the overall wellbeing of nature and society.
As Vice Chairman of Roche Holding AG, a pioneering pharmaceutical business – which has in recent years shifted from “managing for financial return” to “managing for impact”– André has been instrumental in steering its operations towards innovation and greater social and environmental responsibility. His leadership extends to roles such as serving on the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, where he champions sustainable development and corporate responsibility.
André serves as a board member of Capitals Coalition, where he promotes the integration of natural, human and social capital into economic decision-making, is the co-founder of InTent, a platform for developing sustainable solutions to societal problems, and is President of Fondation Tour du Valat, a globally recognised institute for wetland conservation. Additionally, as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Hoffmann Institute at INSEAD, he has helped to embed sustainability into the fabric of modern business education by equipping future business leaders with the tools and thinking they need to build resilient and regenerative businesses that create long-term value for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
André’s appointment as Board Chair signifies a transformative chapter for GIST Impact. His profound understanding of corporate impact and unwavering belief in business as a force for societal good is fully aligned with our mission to measure all dimensions of corporate performance – not just returns to shareholders. Under his leadership, we look forward to rapidly scaling our mission and our reach, helping businesses and investors to access the data and analytics they need to integrate a more holistic and science-based approach to decision-making. In his own words:
“If we measure only financial returns, we miss the full value businesses can bring to people and planet. With GIST Impact, we can measure and manage the value businesses create for society and nature alike.”
Please join us in celebrating André Hoffmann as our new Board Chair. We’re confident that his leadership will propel us to new heights in our pursuit of measuring and amplifying positive impact worldwide!
