GIST Impact at The Economist ESG and Climate Risk Week

2 min read

It was an honour to be part of the panel on “The risks of handling climate and biodiversity in silos” at The Economist Impact’s 5th ESG and Climate Risk Week, discussing how companies can put a financial value on biodiversity, measure it and set appropriate targets.

Our SVP, Investor Services, Anupam Ravi, highlighted the importance of measuring biodiversity-related impacts to better understand and account for the value of services nature provides for businesses. He noted the increasing demand we’re seeing for nature-related impact analysis among both corporates and investors, with a clear shift in lens from solely direct operations – where there has been significant progress to date – to also include supply chain (upstream) impacts.

From the discussion, it was clear that businesses are taking a much more integrated approach to climate, biodiversity and nature, and all panelists noted the importance of the upcoming final TNFD recommendations in helping to drive and align nature-related reporting and disclosure.
